Hi everyone,
I started paper scrapping in 2000. I was researching my family history and president of the local society at the time. I came across a scrapbooking magazine whilst I was looking for family history magazines. I was so excited and promptly went home and read the magazine cover to cover. I went to a CM workshop and became a consultant. In 2002, we moved to New Zealand and had to resign as a consultant. I then discovered digi scrapping. I had already been using Photoshop since 1995, so had a good knowledge of photo editing. I don't think I slept much for a year after that. I spent as much time as I could learning digiscrapping techniques. I was totally hooked and of course frequented all the digi scrapping forums and groups online.
Then in 2003 I went to work for a pro graphics company in Auckland. I learnt heaps about printing and printing media. Then I worked for Queensberry albums for a year. Then we felt there was a need for a simple way to get your photos off the computer and into a book format.
This was where the idea for My Reflections was born. Now days my digi scrapping has turned more into Photobooking, which is quicker and easier than traditional scrapbooking. It's still a craft, but one based on getting results in a reasonable timeframe. It allows me to keep up to date with my photos and get them into a printed format to share with my family and friends. Most importantly it doesn't blow my budget.
I used to be a chronic collector and spent a lot of time shopping and buying things that I might use one day. When I started digi scrapping, I thought it was going to be much cheaper. It definately was, but I also spent a lot of time shopping and collecting. With Photobooks, I no longer need to spend a lot of time collecting things and my time is spent working directly on my projects.
If you have a scrapping or photobooking story you want to share, I would love to hear it.
Cheers,
Suz
