photo book (How does your company differ?)

Hi I recently joined the forum as I am looking for a company that does photo books. Now, how does your company differ from others that are in Australia? Sincerely Christian

    Re: photo book

    Hi Christian,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for your question.

We have a couple of points of difference from others in the market.

First and foremost is our customer service. This is something we focus heavily on, and we strive to respond promptly to our customers needs and requests.

Quick turn around time. We work to a fast turn around time, meaning from the time we recieve payment for your photobook we will have it dispatched within 1 - 6 working days.

    Competitive pricing.

A wide range of sizes and two different binding methods.

We use the latest digital print technology and our press won Press of the Year Award in the USA 2007.

We are a 100% Australian owned and operated family business.

Photobook Designer is designed and written by us, right here in Australia and was designed to be extremely easy to use. We are one of only 2 companies that have written or own software in Australia, we know our products very well and can respond to market needs more easily than most.

Again thanks for showing an interest in My Reflections.

I hope this helps in your decision to choose a My Reflections Photobook.

    Tyler

    Re: photo book

    No worries Christian,

We also use a 170 gsm silk coated paper which has a written 200 year archival guarantee.

Our pages in our original photobooks have stayed perfectly white, whilst other photobooks of the same age, have begun to yellow around the edges of the inside pages (even though these companies have said they are using an archival paper of 75 plus years).

    Re: photo book

    Hello,

I to am interested in putting together some digital albums, perhaps with the view to doing some wedding photography down the track. I have a few questions.

    1. I see use silk coated archival paper is it Kodak?

    2. My monitor is fairly well calibrated with respect to Kodak printing machines (I usually use Teds for 4X6 and 8X12 prints, they use Kodak), so if Kodak great. If not are you able to post out a small print, and it's digital source so as I can calibrate to it (I know I should get a spyder)? I guess alternatively I could get a loose sheet printed up as a test before diving into a whole book.

    3. I have recently purchased Lumapix photofusion extreme version. What output do prefer/suggest for best results (eg 300dpi jpeg etc).

I think thats all for now

    Thanks

    Adrian

    Re: photo book

    Hi Adrian,

Our process is very different to an inkjet print. The paper we use is the manufacturers highest quality media for the press we use. It has a written archival quality to 200 years. When we recently pulled out some books that were made 2 years ago and compared them to serveral competitors books that were also made at the same time, our pages was still perfectly white, whereas the other books had yellowed at the edges. It was quite a shock to see this happen to the other books in such a short time. All had been stored together on a book shelf.

If you would like to see a sample print, just send me a photo and your name and address. I will print and post a sample to you.

    Re: photo book

We have recently started sending surveys our to our clients a few days after the books are received. So far the feedback has been amazing. We often get told that we should have a section above excellent for our service and turnaround time.

The top requests for Photobook Designer are improved text functions, movable templates, ability to resize books, start calendars on a nominated month and ticks on photos used. We are already added 3 of these things to the software and are working on the last two.

You should see some huge changes in Photobook Designer in the coming months. We will always strive to continue to keep it quick and simple to use

    Cheers,

    Suz

Re: photo book (How does your company differ?)

We also have a huge size range of books. From as small as an A6 pocket book, to a 30x30cm square hardcover. We have both the layflat books and hardcover style.

Photobook Designer version 3 is in testing at the moment and is due for release around the beginning of September 08. The changes will be welcomed by everyone and scrapbookers in particular, becuase there will be so much more control over your images and also the ability to move, skew, rotate, flip, resize and crop your images. You will be able to use images with transparent backgrounds, which is great for embellishments and images that have a drop shadow.

We will also have personalised dust jackets for the books. These are printed on an Epson Pro, wide format printer and laminated for protection of your books.
